Settlement Grant Programme (SPG) 

  

  

Do you speak Spanish? Are in need of assistance or information in Spanish? 

Spanish speaking NSW SLASA workers can help you. Services are subsidised by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) and offered at no cost.

It aims to bring support to migrants that have arrived in the last 5 years to further assist with settlement into Australia.  The following services are offered: 

  

  • Information on available services offered in the Sydney area: General enquiries and referrals to specialised services,  Assistance with procedures for government owned and private organisations and informative lectures. Workshops, seminars and conferences.

Community Partners Program    

  

This program just started at SLASA and is funded by the Department of Health and Ageing to provide services and activities for older people of Spanish Speaking background.

The core objective of the CPP is:“Promoting and facilitating increased and sustained access by culturally and linguistically diverse communities with significant aged care needs to aged care support services”. 

  

The outcomes for the Community Partners Program include the following: 

  

  • More aged care support services delivering culturally appropriate care to older people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities;
  • Older people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities having increased access to culturally appropriate aged care support services;
  • Older people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities having greater capacity to make informed decisions about aged care support services; and
  • Formalised arrangements are made that will sustain the benefits of the CPP project and its strategies and continue to promote and facilitate increased access by culturally and linguistically diverse communities to aged care support services. For More information please call  9724. 2220 and communicate with Sandra Loyola Sandoval, CPP– Aged Community, Development Worker, email: cpp.slasa@yahoo.com.au      

  

Centre Manager - Family Support Worker

  

  

The Centre Manager and Family Support Worker project is funded by the Department of Community Services (DOCS) to provide services to families from the Spanish speaking communities.  

The position has two focuses, firstly to provide Family Support and coordination for the Spanish and Latin American Association for Social Assistance’s (NSW SLASA) Central Office located in Fairfield. Secondly, it includes NSW SLASA’s services coordination.

  

The Family Support focus of the project has several aims such as building stronger communities; increase the capacity of the community for self-determination through capacity building programs; development community developments projects to strengthen Spanish-speaking families; planning, development and support new and existing projects and community groups, and the extremely important aspect of advocating on community and social justice issues on behalf of Spanish speaking communities to ensure that the Spanish speaking communities have equal access to services and programs available.
