English class students and their English teacher Mónica Gómez
“Those of us who arrived to this beautiful country some time ago, came with the priority to work. Now that we’ve retired, we feel the need to improve our poor English. That is why we are extremely pleased to have organisations like NSW SLASA to give us the opportunity to improve our language and through their really enjoyable English classes“ - Homer and Yeni.
“Since the very beginning of the English course with Mrs. Mónica Gómez, I have been pleasantly surprised with my development. The classes are enjoyable, and presented with dedication and understanding. I’m very grateful and I hope that we can continue this activity in the immediate future and in the years to come“ - Josefina Berbis.
During 2015, we ran classes weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and with a total of 90 people attending each week.
NSW SLASA HAS SERVED THE COMMUNITY FOR 40 YEARS
NSW SLASA was founded in November 1978
and this year we will be celebrating our
40-year anniversary with various events
NSW SLASA was established by a group of community workers who saw the real need for
an organisation to assist the Spanish speaking community. Through providing services and activities, NSW SLASA was able to assist newly arrived Spanish speakers with their process of settlement in this beautiful country we call home.
Throughout our 40 years, there have been countless achievements and there isn’t enough paper to name them all. We can confidently say that NSW SLASA continues to be an engaged and active community organisation. We are an organisation not solely assisting the Spanish speaking community, but an organisation devoted to assisting the Cultural and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) community who are committed to creating a better multicultural society.
We are organising many events to commemorate our 40 years, but the best will be in November. We will be celebrating our many contributions to social, cultural, political and economic development in Australian society.
