Living and working in a multicultura society
We are a community based organization that has experienced changes thought the years, we have adapted to the changes Australia as a multicultural society has experieneced particularly on Western Sydney where there is a large concentration of migrants and refugees of non English speaking background.
Today we are not a community organization serving just the Spanish speaking communities, today we are providing programs and activites targeting all CALD communities living in South West Sydney. Its a change that has contributed to improve the relationships and community harmony among the CALD communities in South Western Sydney.
Contributing to the development of a multicultural society.
NSW SLASA has been serving the CALD communities since 1978. Initially and a for a few years we were an ethnic specific organization working mainly with the Spanish speaking communities in NSW.
But, like any other community based organization we have experienced changes as the whole community sector has experiences during the last few years. We have survived policy changes that tent to favor big corporations or organizations affecting grass roots organization like us.
Throughout our 43 years, there have been countless achievements and there isn’t enough paper to name them all. We can confidently say that NSW SLASA continues to be an engaged and active community grass roots organisation. We are an organisation not solely assisting the Spanish speaking community, but an organisation devoted to assisting the Cultural and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) community who are committed to creating a better multicultural society.
We are are very proud of the many contributions we have made to the social, cultural, political and economic development of Australian society.
