Services

NSW SLASA provides different kinds of services to the Spanish speaking community of NSW. Our services are offered in Spanish and on an individual, group or family basis, without discrimination based on ethnic or social background, country of origin, political, sexual or religious ideology. Some of the most important services include:

Individual Services

  • Informational and referral services to other governmental or private community organisations.

  • Counselling on individual rights and obligations.

  • Assisting and counselling on the benefits given by the governmental and private organisations.

  • Assisting and managing of the procedures and paperwork required to get help from governmental, community and private departments. 

Community Development

  • It consists of forming groups of men and women, young people and the elderly.

  • Helping and providing resources to the existing Spanish speaking community.

  • Organising training courses, seminars and informative talks.

  • Organising social, educational and recreational activities to preserve our Spanish-Latin-American culture.

  • Promoting our culture to contribute to the development of Australia as a multicultural society.

  • Identifying the needs of the Spanish-Latin-American communities and establishing programs and services using existing governmental resources and allowances.​

Case Work

  • This support service for older people of Spanish speaking background aims to bring them together with care services for the elderly. ​

  • What is it that NSW SLASA's support service offers the care services' providers to the elderly? They:

  • Help associate providers with the elderly of Spanish speaking background requiring attention.

  • Help associate providers with the Spanish-Latin-American community.

  • Inform providers about the needs of the elderly of Spanish speaking background.

  • Offer providers practical help and advice through a culturally appropriate service.

  • Offer providers knowledge on the challenges faced by the elderly in the provision of care services. ​

  • This service is a community source designed to improve the relationship and communication between the elderly of different backgrounds and care services' providers. This service is financed by the Department of Health and Ageing under the Aged Care Services Improvement and Healthy Ageing Grants program.

Community Hub

This project is funded by the Department of Human Services NSW (formerly Department of Community Services (DOCS). The main objective of the project has several objectives, such as building stronger communities, increase community capacity for self-determination through training programs, development projects in the community to strengthen Spanish-speaking families, the planning, developing and supporting new and existing projects and community groups, and very important aspect of promoting social justice and community on behalf of the Spanish-speaking communities for Spanish-speaking communities have equal access to services and programs. 

 

To meet these objectives, the project has organized information and education activities to the community, to raise awareness of the issues, services and activities available to the Spanish speaking community. Furthermore, associations and committees have been formed with other agencies and workers to share resources and maximize results for our community.

Customer Service

We provide assistance, information and/or management on your rights and responsibilities when living in Australia. Information we provide is on the procedures and paperwork required to get help from governmental, community and private departments. Also, we provide information on housing, legal matters, immigration, employment, social security, health, etc.

Telephone and Personal Information Service

If you need information on any private or governmental service, need any assistance on Spanish speaking groups, consulates, activities, or need to make an appointment to access our services, you can do so by calling us or visiting our office in Bonnyrigg. We will be glad to assist you.

Justice of the Peace

We provide the community with Justice of the Peace services to witness to documents people use for official or legal purposes. Request to speak with Carlos Encina on 9610 0288.
